Despite the title of this post, the words to follow have nothing to do with American politics.  Instead, I realize that this year is going to be a year of change for me personally.  While my feelings so far have been a farrago of fear, loss, and resignation mere moments ago, I realize that there is far more opportunity in what lies ahead than in what has come so far.  To be sure, this year is a year in which I will be forced to grow up, for despite my maturity in some aspects, I have been acting as a child for far too long.

Change comes quickly and change comes slowly.  It is the former that I have feared, but the latter that is preparing me for the acceleration that is to come.  The thought of motion after an epoch of stagnancy has opened my mind to possibilites I had not yet dreamed.  If only I did not feel the chill of a winter’s breeze upon my mental awakening this night.
